Fun with language

I found this on a friend's Facebook page.

fi yuo cna raed tihs, yuo hvae a sgtrane mnid too  Cna yuo raed tihs? Olny 55 plepoe out of 100 can. i cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. Fascinating--I can read that easily, but this, John 5:19 in Thai, to me is laborious:John 5:19 Thai
And Sunday I hope to give a whole message in Thai for the first time. Sigh. We'll see if I make it.

Thai is a hard language for us alright. I used to be able to get around and even narrate a tour in Japanese. (I wrote my own Japanese tour.) I studied Thai with Rosetta Stone. But I can go through five lessons in Spanish faster than one in Thai!

Thanks Jim, I saw a shorter version of the misspelled English a few years ago. I can read this one as fast as properly spelled English. It did make me laugh. It's laborious for me to read a few syllables of the Thai.

Wow! I'm sure it means a lot to your neighbors that you've worked so hard at learning their language.

I've been doing the Thai CDs for several months now and have realized that it's a difficult language. I don't have a problem with the words but getting the proper tone kills me. Hopefully, when I get to LA, I can hook up with some language groups at the Wat and start to pick it up better.

I hope your sermon goes well.
